There’s a wealth of information on how to write… but shockingly little on how to edit.
Getting to the end of your draft is a phenomenal achievement, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more work to be done if you want other people to read it.
Fear not! As erstwhile editors, now 6(ish) books deep as writers ourselves, we’re here to share with you the tricks we’ve learned from both sides of the editorial desk. In this session, by sharing our own process we hope to give you more confidence in how you approach an edit, as well as inspiration for when it all feels a little too much of a struggle. We will also, very importantly, give you hot drinks and biscuits.
- Writing vs editing: one of these things is not like the other
- What goes on between draft and re-draft
- The finer details: thirsty first lines, manuscript massacre and killer endings
- Window into the editorial process – a closer look at the edits Non and Robin have been through as authors
This event is aimed at writers who have completed at least one manuscript and want to explore new ways of approaching the self-edit, as well as anyone about to consider going on submission to agents or publishers.
